In similar fashion as fellow Brown Bag AllStar mate Audible Doctor, Soul Khan went to Bonnaroo Festival this year to perform with three other bands, in which none of them have met each other before. Soul Khan, Jeni Suk, Knower and Black Violin went to the festival and became Soopergroop. Until their meeting at the rehearsal trailer four days prior to their 60 minute show, they have never met one another. The outcome you see above is a beautiful thing: Music is a beautiful thing.
And you can watch their journey from day one to the amazing performance here.
Homie Audible Doctor was on the legendary Wake Up Show with Sway, King Tech and DJ Revolution. The coolest part of all this is that the show was not scripted and the musicians have never met before. So all the music you see here is done on the fly. Also on the show that day was Bishop Lamont, Crooked I, Chris Young, Senica Da Misfit and Nessasary.
On January 14th, Nashville’s own DeRobert & The Half-Truths will release their “I’m Tryin’” album on G.E.D. Soul Records. “I’m Tryin’” is their first full length record since their 2010 release “Soul In A Digital World” and “I’m Tryin’” focuses primarily on musical layers as well as the band signature brand of syncopated Nashville soul.
Today, enjoy the official music video for the first single “Goin’ Places,” a feel-good track that hopefully will help you get your weekend started.
