Today a series of live performance music videos have come out via Jam in the Van, basically a “Bang Bus” on wheels for bands that create multiple music videos inside agood ol’ hippy fashioned Winnebago. This episode is outside the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood and has Kosha Dillz rapping with a live band, including an unreleased song called “Don’t Know Sh*t,” his super live hit “Hangin’ Out,” and “Span-Hebrish,” a song in Spanish-Hebrew and English. The ubiquitous Dilllz has also linked with Turquoise Jeep for a nine show tour.. hit the jump for the dates and visuals.
Tomorrow at 88 Palace isn’t just any old edition of Dark Disco; sure the residents (DKDS) and decor will be in place but the lineup is something to behold, thanks to the likes of Red Bull Music Academy being in town. Not only is the live debut of Gerd Janson (Tuff City Kids) at hand, but Metro Area will be in full-force; presenting their live show after a decade of radio silence in the performance department. Even more so, Night Slugs head honchos Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 will be there to give their own definitive take on “club music” for a special set. Get your dim sum and club constructions on, tomorrow night on East Broadway. Check out the flyer and a preview of what’s to come, after the jump.
Cubez are fun, and their music is eclectic, intricately orchestrated and combined with an incredibly skilled live performance. They are a sampling and drum playing powerhouse. Showcasing Angelo Tursi’s mastery of tonal exploration and Eric White’s (aka lil Panda) 808 beat crafting skills, Cubez is hot on the scene with their debut EP Skams (released on SpinSpinNYC just a few days ago and receiving tons of love), featuring a dark, minimal remix by Philadelphia’s Starkey.
Before artists were cheating YouTube for more video views, and labels engaged in buy backs for their own artists’ albums to inflate sales, one true way you knew a track was hot was how many people recorded it on their own tape decks. Well, Alpha Faktion is bringing those memories back with a vengeance in their latest video, “Truth, Lies & Audiotape.” Since “it’s hard to see the truth on the inside of your eyelids,” KrazeILLA The Monster and Azwun are here to open your mind to the pollution the spread by mainstream media. The revolution continues on their EP of the same title, dropping May 21st, which boasts guest features from the likes of Shabaam Sahdeeq and Skeezo, and includes production from Vherbal, Skammadix and 2Deep. After releasing the audio this past Friday, NYC’s Oscar O’Malley presents the visuals for “CoKo Bajio.” By fusing ethereal imagery with the Stoned God’s atmospheric production, your judgement of perception verse reality will surely be challenged. Seemingly paradoxical, you’ll find O’Malley peacefully exhaling thick plumes of weed smoke into the clouds, while donning his uzi that weighs a ton as he takes out whole villages with his lyrics. No use praying for mercy either… ‘fu*k around, he’ll turn this whole place villain.’ Now hit the jump for the visuals and au-gratis .mp3 download.
