The Good Vibrations Festival is a yearly week long festival, February 12th-21st, that takes place during Australia’s summer in the following cities: Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth. The artists for this years show were carefully handpicked and notably varied across the spectrum, ensuring a good time for a diverse crowd of all ages; where old school met its new school counterpart. This years festival was host to The Killers, Basement Jaxx, Armand Van Helden, Gossip, Salt-N-Pepa, Friendly Fries, Busta Rhymes, Z-Trip, Kid Cudi, Naughty By Nature, Plump DJs, Gym Class Heroes, Chase and Status, Craze, Dave Seaman, Chuckie, Art vs. Science, BlueJuice, Spinderella, Bass Kleph, Sam Obernik, KillaQueenz & Sydney Local Artists, all hosted my SlimKid3.

Creator of GVF, Justin Hemmes, made sure that there was never a dull moment for the concert goers or more honestly labeled – addicts of good music.The festival took place from early afternoon to late evening providing Aussies and tourists alike with an entire day filled with musical acts housed under five different tents, good food, and of course good drink! Dish Jockey Saves Your Life (Video)

Okay so not really.  Have you noticed the swathe of infomercials that have been coming out that make you question if the product is even real.  If not I suggest you visit the Hand Job website. One trip there will definitely show you the funniest yet lowest common denominator of retail advertising.  Unfortunately it is real Virginia.

But now, for a limited time only I’m sure, you too can lessen your kitchen duties all in the name of practicing to be the next Gaslamp Killer or Z-Trip.  Enter the Australian brainchild known as the Dish Jockey.  It’s no Snuggie, it’s surely not a Necky or even a Hand Job… it probably won’t even clean your dishes but if you’re lucky it will provide a good laugh.  Should it not then refer back to the Hand Job….

Z-Trip’s Revolution: A Party for the People [11/13/09] (Video)


As my cab pulled up to the Maloof family’s Palms Hotel, I couldn’t miss the massive “Z-Trip’s Revolution: A Party for the People” sign towering above the parking lot. Just another piece of evidence confirming DJ culture was permanently etched in the entertainment landscape. Two back -to-back nights at one of Vegas’ biggest properties (Paul Oakenfold owns Saturday’s for his Perfecto night) puts guys with records on par with the city’s comics and American Idol winners.

Grandmaster Roc Raida Tribute and Benefit

A tribute to the late, great Grandmaster DJ Roc Raida and a benefit for his wife and children will take place at BB Kings underground in Times Square, New York City, on Oct 22nd. Featuring performances by the X-men / X-ecutioners (Rob Swift, DJ Precision, Total Eclipse), Boogie Blind, Beat Junkies (Babu, J-Rocc, Rhettmatic, Shortkut), Craze, A-Trak, Z-trip, DJ Scratch, Roli Rho, I Dee, and more including a special MC performance by the Diggin In The Crates crew (DITC).
