Stone Roses, Blur, Phoenix, Red Hot Chili Peppers Headline Coachella 2013

The line-up is out for the 14th Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and there’s a lot of reasons for music fans to be excited, especially those obsessed with early-’90s UK music. Friday night will feature co-headliners Blur and The Stone Roses, two seminal UK acts that have reformed in recent years, much to brit-pop lover’s delight.

Saturday proves it still possible for newer bands to hit massive success, with French indie-poppers Phoenix handling headlining duties, followed by UK phenoms The xx. Sunday offers veteran fare with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, two acts who have been making music since before the average Coachella camper was born.

Read Ol Dirty Bastard’s FBI File

Was it really only 12 years ago that hip-hop was still looked upon by “the man” as a threat to our modern society, in need of constant surveillance ala J. Edgar Hoover? Apparently, given the 93-page FBI report just released as part of the Freedom of Information Act on Wu-Tang Clan madman Ol Dirty Bastard.

The report talks of far-flung crimes such as car-jackings and shootings among other nefarious acts. Or maybe ODB really was as gangsta as his legend would suggest.

Wavves x GZA :: “Liquid Swords” Live (Video)

It must be every suburban 20-something’s dream to get on stage with a memeber of the Wu-Tang Clan. So we’re happy for SoCal indie-punk Wavves who got to play back-up band for GZA performing “Liquid Swords” on Fuel TV’s Daily Habit. The band does a solid job in re-creating RZA‘s haunted loops (adding a little fuzzbox in the middle) while the MC plays fast and loose with the rhythm.
