WTF is back with something that we hope that you didn’t miss on release day this week.

Being patient certainly paid off for those people awaiting, UK based producer, Stuart Howard aka Lapalux, to drop his debut LP, Nostalchic, on widely praised label Brainfeeder.  Brainfeeder has garnered much respect in the music community as home to releases from such acts as Flying Lotus, Thundercat, and The Gaslamp Killer and has strengthened it’s label with its recent signing of Lapalux.

[Wednesday, The F*ck?!?] WTF07 – Dirtyphonics – Irreverence (Review & Limited Album Stream) (MP3)

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means.  Welcome back to WTF, the column dedicated to getting those artists and releases that may have flown under your radar earlier this week.

The Dirtyphonics broke out onto the EDM scene in 2008, lending their stylings and skill the varying schemes of bass music to artists like Marilyn Manson, Nero, Skrillex, and Benny Benassi.  After signing with Dim Mak in 2012, they broke out of the label’s gates with a vengeance, torching listeners eardrums with their brand of bass music, readily encompassing heavy bass, DnB, dubstep, electro, grime, and even heavy metal into their releases.

It’s a well known fact that despite my first of love of Hip Hop that I have a shorty on the side, and her name is House.  This flavor shorty is the kind that hails from the Chi, has a jackin’ swagger, and isn’t afraid to get funky when the time comes.  Having not seen shorty in a while, it was definitely a WTF moment when I was reintroduced to her by today’s featured artist’s newest release.

[Wednesday, The F*ck?!?] WTF05 – Azari & III releases Remix Album & Announces Next Project (MP3)

Welcome back to another episode of WTF, where we look at a release and/or artist that dropped something on the Tuesday release sheet that you may have missed in the flood of music that always starts our week off.

There must be something in the water over at Dim Mak.  Much of their release sheet in the recent past has made it to more than a few staffers and interns playlists and DJ sets over here on the SF URB team’s stomping grounds.  A big reason for this has to do with the label’s ability to drop releases that fit in with the structure and sound of modern EDM while having respect to the genre’s past.
