LCD Soundsystem Final Concert Film To Be Released

Last night, the LCD Soundsystem documentary, Shut Up And Play The Hits, debuted at Sundance. And while the premise of the film—what happens when you decide to retire your band at the peak of popularity—has been well reported, one question that hasn’t been answered is whether or not the entire four-hour concert (which streamed live and lived for several days on YouTube before the copyright police swarmed in) would actually be released on it’s own.

Luckily the answer is yes, as was revealed in a post-screening interview with SUAPTH directors Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern along with James Murphy himself. …MORE

Film Chronicles The Final Madison Square Garden Concert 

You didn’t think LCD Soundsystem’s final show at Madison Square Garden would fade into memory quickly, did you? Directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace will be premiering a film about the concert at Sundance next year, described as, “A documentary that follows LCD Soundsystem front man James Murphy over a crucial 48-hour period, from the day of their final gig at Madison Square Garden to the morning after, the official end of one of the best live bands in the world.”

Blur “No Distance Left to Run” Trailer (Video)

Blur’s official reunion documentary, No Distance Left To Run, is slated for theaters on January 19th. I hope this comes stateside, not sure yet, but here is the trailer:

Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the film trails the band from rehearsals to comeback shows in Colchester and at London’s Goldsmiths College, Glastonbury, T In The Park festival, Hyde Park shows, and promises firsthand insight to the innermost workings of the band.
