Interview :: Phil Selway of Radiohead

Radiohead are officially back in the lab working out new material, which means drummer Phil Selway will get little to no reprieve after coming off a solid month of touring his first album of solo material, the quietly brilliant Familial. Written with an all- star cast of players—including Soul Coughing’s Sebastian Steinberg, Wilco’s Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone, and singer/songwriter Lisa Germano—the album is a disarmingly intimate look at Radiohead’s soft spoken, well dressed timekeeper. We sat down with Mr. Selway to get a little more familiar with the material. …MORE

Blitzen Trapper

Destroyer of the Void

Released by Sub Pop Records

Blitzen Trapper are back with their 5. album Destroyer of the Void, following their highly acclaimed 2008 album Furr. Wilco, Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket for Free Climate Control Album

Bonnaroo’s climate change awareness album, Best of Bonnaroo, will feature live recordings of Wilco, Pearl Jam and My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists and Jack Johnson.

The plan is to get the free compilation out to people who will then email their Senators, Obama and local media to stand in favor of upcoming climate change legislation. The project is a collaboration between the festival, HeadCount and NRDC Action Fund. The free download is available at Music for Action, where you can also get involved. Tracklisting after the jump.

Kiss 2009 Goodbye: Highlights through the Lens of Music

I played Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” in groups of six, saw Wilco back-to-back at The Wiltern, put my right-hand high with Kid Sister, blew a kiss to Ben Gibbard as Hollywood Bowl exploded with fireworks, chilled with A Place to Bury Strangers, worked-out to Miike Snow, beatboxed with Matis, moved to Silver Lake, boogied down at Nightmares on Wax, got blinded by Mandy’s rock, took my clothes off at Phoenix…
