LMNO & Yann Kesz
Devilish Dandruff With Holy Shampoo
Thursday Night, Long Beach, CA.
The venue gradually got full, and like any Hip Hop show, it started kinda late. The lineup was well worth the wait. LA Hip Hop showcase at its finest. From the opening acts: R Crew, the Crux, Pan!k & the Brothers Amor, A.G.E. Records (including underground emcee Pigeon John straight from Hawthorne) to the guest appearance, the stage had lots of energy. 2Mex and Evidence definitely tore it up, hyping the young hip hop crowd. After rippin it up with ridiculously conscious lyricsim 2Mex brought up Zen (fellow Visionaries member). Evidence also had a few surprises for us with fresh producer Exile and Layover LP guest Fashawn.

Shapeshifters, Visionaries and Dilated Peoples were up in Hollywood’s Safari Sam’s for a night of real LA rap. In fact, the only thing more quantifiable than the “authentic hip-hop heads” was the heat index, as the venue was easily 147 degrees fahrenheit. Easily.
Evidence was the night’s headliner and he played a grip of new material for the first time, including “Celeb Realilty” (over Lil Wayne’s “Let the Beat Build” beat) and “For Whatever It’s Worth” from fellow Dilated People Babu’s upcoming LP. Check the photos from Arturo Covarrubias below:

See…that’s why you don’t ever have any fun Sheryl. Of course, how was she to know that 8-2-08 was part 2 of Peanut Butter Wolf’s 888 tour on Funky Soul night at Jimmy’s?
A relatively unassuming shell of a building on Santa Monica home to festivities, inside shit was pretty nuts.
Equal parts chill, drink, and dance, PB’s 2nd stop was delightfully charming, wooing patrons with environment, and funky as fuck soundtrack. Shiva-limbed B-girls drew immediate infatuation, multi-faceted skill sets of popping, locking, booty gyration, ballet? Yeah, despite the Missus draped zarape-status, the …
