Video Premiere: Hurts “Wonderful Life” (Video)

Parisian lable progresses the globe with their latest compilation.

French brand, Kitsuné knows a good thing when they see it. Between their amazing fashion line and record label, it maintains the credibility that the French are known for when it comes to trends. Their label has put out records for amazing artists like Wolfmother, Yelle, Boyz Noize and Digitalism.

With their latest venture, Kitsuné Maison 9 – The Petit Bateau edition or The Cotton Issue, Kitsuné has teamed up with bands like Washed Out, Crookers feat. Yelle, Holy Ghost!, Penguin Prison and more for their ninth studio compilation.

Electronic duo, Hurts who is also featured in the compilation, rounds out the Kitsuné aesthetic with their light, break beat rhythms and Theo Hutchcraft’s pleading vocals. Their latest video, “Wonderful Life,” will be featured on the upcoming compilation, which is set for an April release date.

Video: Broken Bells “The High Road” (Video & MP3)

Highly regarded individuals join to make an even higher regarded band.

Brian Burton has come a long way since I first heard of him six years ago with The Grey Album that initiated my enthusiasm for the producer.  His mash-up of The Beatles’ LP The Beatles (or commonly known as The White Album) and Jay-Z’s The Black Album was, at the time, considered the ultimate mash-up of all mash-ups, which meant it was completely illegal.

Their latest video, “Get Together” is nothing short of my expectations I have always maintained for them, which have been for my musical boundaries to always be pushed. Between the foggy cinematography, their amazing fashion sense and the gorgeous “body guard” character sans shirt, the video alone could easily stand for their creative vision.

But then the smooth synths and relaxing bass line plays and you realize that music is their main talent.

Lead singer, Jack Davey gently sings while partner Brook D’Leau perfectly matches her with harmonies that enhance the track even more. The song definitely takes you to a place where I almost guarantee you’re not, unless you’re …

Nirvana – “Lithium” Live at Reading (Video)

Live at Reading wound up being one of the better releases from last year. Too bad it was recorded in ‘92 and really has almost nothing to do with what’s going on musically today. Kurt and company still rule.

The Aggrolites x You and Me on a Jamboree (Video)

Boss sounds abound. Don’t mess around. Every time, these guys put something new out – or apparently even just record some one-off takes – it seems like the world has righted itself. From LA to Brazil, don’t let this one sit on the shelf. It’s the reggae reggae for your ear hole.
