A-Trak links with Nike, Jay-Z

As if he wasn’t busy enough building his Fool’s Gold Label, making beats for Kid Sister and Amanda Blank and backing Kanye on tour, A-Trak’s found time to prep what he’s calling his debut album and help Jay-Z put together his next show.

In a blog on his MySpace, the Canadian DJ is letting loose with the news that his debut album will be his contribution to the Nike Original Run Series. His 45-minute contribution will follow in the footsteps of LCD Soundsystem and Aesop Rock. As for him and Jigga, well A-Trak turned down an offer to back him on tour, but couldn’t pass up the chance to help out as a musical director.

Hot Chip should really cool out on the wtf special releases (see last week’s pairing with Robert Wyatt) and get down to making some new jams (I laugh as I call Hot Chip “jams.”)

Diplo, Pizza and a Hot Dog

The Mad Decent tour hit LA Nov 4th with Diplo, Abe Vigoda, Telepathe, and a dancing Hot Dog and Pizza (courtesy of Diplo). Whenever a pause in music appeared, people yelled OBAMA! They were psyched, even at a non-election night affiliated party where they got nothing for free, except smiles and the sweat falling off other people.

Telepathe’s an interesting concept. Mellow in demeanor, but throw a thick gold chain on that chillness and you get these wild colors and a pretty heady beat barrage, growing expansive while remaining very contained. Like a haiku.

In case you wonder, Abe Vigoda was an actor. He played …
