Little Dragon, KCRW’s second most-played band (right behind Radiohead!) will be zipping across the States this spring. The buzz around the group is much deserved, as they have toured extensively and won fans left and right. We can also expect two tracks on the new Gorillaz album… Catch them if you can. Dates after the jump.
The always lovable Mayer Hawthorne stopped by San Francisco’s Groove Merchant to look through the stacks to get his vinyl fix. We get a glimpse of the man behind the glasses, and he likens record-hunting to an “addiction like any other drug” and he reveals what he scouts for, how he got his first DJ name (Haircut) as a little kid, and his personal theme song.
Earlier this week we revealed the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as our readers’ favorite rock artist of the year, and to wrap up the week we have a remix of the YYYs “Maps” done by Elite Force. The classic is mashed with the JELO remix of Monolythe. Kick it up a notch!

Leave it to Japanese-Swedish singer Yukimi Nagano to captivate a full-house of Angeleno hipsters with her brand of organic electro-pop. During Little Dragon’s gig at the El Rey Theatre on Friday evening, the audience had reason to be enraptured.
With two full-lengths to its name, Little Dragon is Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Kallgren Walsh (bass), and Hakan Wirenstrand (keyboards) with Ms. Nagano. The sold-out show was a confirmation of the Gothenberg-based band’s swelling fan-base and break-through year. The quartet challenges those who wish to pigeonhole their sound, and just last week our readers nominated them as Rock Artist of the Year in the Readers Poll.
