Unsound Festival 2010 Review (Krakow)

One of the best reasons to hop on a plane to Poland.

As mentioned before in my previous post on Unsound, it’s a festival that is known for enticing its demographic with risks, rewards and thematic atmosphere. With the theme of horror being the crux of the whole weekly event, there was ways that anything and everything could go wrong. However, just when one would think the undertaking of layering an entire festival with a theme would turn out horrific (no pun intended), somehow the curtain comes down to show off something off-kilter yet preserved in its magnificence. Unsound 2010 in Krakow, from start to finish, was one of the most daring and endearing festivals to ever come about. …MORE

Ten Things I Learned At Unsound 2010 (Krakow)

Horrific and heart-warming, in the best way imaginable.

This past February in New York, Unsound Festival branded itself stateside by launching a New York City version of its seminal satellite event. To many people’s pleasant surprise (myself included), the festival gained a considerable amount of welcoming and wonderful press, coverage from outlets such as: The New York Times, Time Out New York, Self-Titled Magazine, XLR8R and ourselves at URB. While Unsound was hailed a success in New York, their original festival location in Krakow has been an important part of Polish arts and culture, finding countless ways to invigorate experimental and electronic music in the midst of a historically rich city. Cosmin TRG Mixes Up A Fantastic One For FABRICLIVE (MP3)

Riddims all around in this fruitful mix of choice cuts.

Cosmin TRG provided one of the better house and funky sets I had heard in a long time at New York’s inaugural version of Unsound Festival earlier in the year, and ever since then, all we want is more select cuts and tunes from the dude. With a just-released darkside 12″ on Untold’s Hemlock imprint, he’s definitely got many more things going for him, such as this exclusive promo mix that he did for FABRICLIVE to let people about the upcoming event with Serocee, Addison Groove (LIVE) and Cosmin’s FIRST-EVER LIVE SHOW. Let’s not forget him and now-Brooklynite FaltyDL are playing a live show together in Krakow later this year at Unsound Festival 2010.  The mix link (via Soundcloud), tracklist and D/L after the jump.

Bass Mutations @ Unsound NYC – Untold, FaltyDL, Pole + more

Riding the wave of the future in one packed night of bass. (Live Review)

When Unsound Festival was announced for New York City, people who had been familiar with the original Krakow festival knew about the famed annual Bass Mutations events, where artists such as Kode9, Ikonika, 2562 and Untold flexed their low-end muscle. Massive anticipation set in for the New York edition, and when the lineup was announced it did not disappoiSnt. Artists highlighting the bill were Untold, TRG, 2562, FaltyDL, Sepalcure (Machine Drum & Praveen Sharma), Pole, Pavel Ambiont and Dub War resident Dave Q. Needless to say, this was a lineup that wouldn’t come around to New York for a while, so people took to getting there and enjoying.
