GRUM Exclusive Interview (Video & MP3)


If you’ve been on Hype Machine lately, then you probably already know that Scottish import GRUM wants you to dance. From his many remixes including the luxurious 80s feeling take on Lady GaGa’s “Bad Romance” to his own album Heartbeats out May 18th on Ultra – he is accomplishing just that. Oh yes, and he’s also currently on tour with the Twelves – playing this Thursday the 29th at Santos Party House in NYC and in LA on May 8th at V-Lounge with many stops in between. This all feels quite important – so URB caught up with this electronic maestro on what he studied at university, how he makes music and his belief in hedonism……

Above & Beyond – Going Deeper with US Tour

Next 100 Alum Above & Beyond – Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Slijamaki – continue to raise the bar on trance, tech-house and deep progressive. These past five years, they have consistently maintained a strong global presence, pushing the boundaries of a genre that, despite being considered corny or cheesy here in the United States, is still the most popular in dance music.

The group created the Anjunadeep sub-label to cover a variety of sounds that don’ t necessarily fit into the trance category. These singles have gained momentum and are being touted by a variety of DJs, including Laurent Garnier, Eric Prydz and James Zabiela, who recently stated, ‘Last night I played four Anjunadeep tracks. I can’t think of any label where I’ve done that.’ Anjunadeep received a nomination for ‘Best Record Label’ at DJ Magazine’ …
