The Mean Red-powered Club Infinity returns once again with a mighty guest DJ flying across the Atlantic to provide us with his signature tunes (and signature call-out within his tunes). UK Funky and broken-beat specialist Roska is providing well-deserved funky house vibes to New York City tomorrow. Along with residents Kingdom (Night Slugs/Fool’s Gold) and Dre Skull (Mixpak). Along with this crazy shindig happening tomorrow night in the East Village, Kingdom has been nice enough to highlight his remix for recent Dutty Artz signing Rita Indiana. Peep the flyer and link to the remix after the jump.
This mix is one for the ages; provided by one of the head honchos of the Glaswegian imprint NUMBERS, Jackmaster has provided DJ sets that stretch time, space and continents simultaneously. Juggling between classic American cuts provided by Chicago and Detroit producers, as well as proper house, funky and bass tunes from the UK and rest of the world, Jackmaster doesn’t hesitate to cue up something that’s a favorite to some and obscure to others. As evident in his Sonar 2010 set, he pushes the envelope of “trendy” and doesn’t just play the newest and freshest dubs, it’s all about vibes. Whether it’s dropping classic Daft Punk, Aphex Twin or throwing down Chaka Khan, he’s fearless and a total maestro on the decks. After a few wishes upon a star, URB got theirs; an exclusive and obviously packed nearly two-hour mix from the man himself. Considering that we’ll be seeing him at UNSOUND 2010 in Krakow (back-to-back with Deadboy) in the coming days, consider this a preview of what his set could be. This very well could be the mix of the year, blending classic, current and everything in between. Be sure to keep your ears peeled for forthcoming NUMBERS tunes in this mix from URB favourites Ill Blu and Mosca. Check the massive tracklist and download link after the jump.
It seems like you can never run of out good music from the peeps at Planet Mu; already on a terrific tear with a bevy of footwork and juke releases, they’ve let out a nice little chunk of brilliant bass with Optimum‘s debut 12″, Max Power. Highlighting melodic structures and inventive drum patterns, the release is one of many things in the pipeline. With another 12″ out on his collaborative imprint, Hum + Buzz (which he runs with URB favourite Ikonika) as well as putting out other artists on the label such as Brenmar and the dubious J.O.H, he’s going to be kept busy for quite a while. Luckily, we had a bit of time to ask him some questions as well as get a brilliant mix of pretty much exclusive dubs and upcoming floor-crushers. Check out the Q/A and mix (including tracklist and D/L link) after the jump.
Finally, after much-deserved buzz from DJs and clubhounds, the duo of Jubilee (Brooklyn’s favorite DJ) and Grahm Zilla (1/2 of Thunderheist) are finally coming out of the dark as Bassanovva. With an upcoming release on Sinden’s Grizzly imprint, the duo are already stand-alone excellent DJs but together they very well could be the firestarters on the floor. Even more exciting will be their debut, presented by one of URB’s favorite NYC parties, Flashing Lights, who will be celebrating their 2-year anniversary. Along with that they’ve provided an EXCLUSIVE mix for us that’s absolutely amazing, highlighting the up-and-coming talents of today’s bass scene as well as bits of their upcoming release.
