Timeless Concert Series – full orchestra collborations with the top composers and turntablists

It has been said that Los Angeles is a cultural wasteland. True the denizens here make trash like Rock Of Love Tour Bus and other crap, but I prefer to focus on the gems that pop up on my radar every once in a while…including the event series TIMELESS. If you like hip hop, Brazilian music, folk, jazz…hell if you like MUSIC, you should go. I’ve left you lucky devils some details below…

TIMELESSTimeless,” a four-part concert series honoring the arrangers/composers that have influenced hip-hop since the 1970s. Mike Relm: Reservoir Dog

Three years ago Mike Relm transcended DJing. If you missed it, that's OK, because he's about to do it again.

Let us tell you what “Like A Virgin” is all about: It’s all about a guy who’s using technology as a catalyst to boost his genre. It’s a metaphor for change. Some might say it’s about a guy with some electronics simply meshing together bits of pop culture lore, but they can tell that fuckin’ bullshit to the tourists. Mike Relm’s show is not about some digital guy who’s come across some snazzy editing equipment. That’s what most DJ shows are about—granted—there’s no argument there. FREE!!! edIT’s ‘Certified Air Raid’ Mixtape!!!

edIT (of The Glitch Mob) is giving away some free shit. The young Angelino just posted a free mixdown of his popular 2007 release, “Certified Air Raid Material,” on Missingtoof. The forty-eight minute mix boasts the same guest contributions as the original unmixed version. Abstract Rude (Abstract Tribe Unique), The Grouch (Living Legends), LA turntablist D-Styles, French rap kooks TTC, and Busdriver all permeate the beats. The opening track, “Battling Go-Go Yubari in Downtown LA” sounds like a robot. A robot that’s way more fun to fight with than O-ren. The final track, “Crunk de Gaulle” is a definite highlight for the contrast between TTC & D-Styles’ and Busdriver’s style of flow. Busdriver could freestyle about what clueless piece of crap I am and I’d still think he sounds cool. Anyway, don’t take my …
