A tribute to the late, great Grandmaster DJ Roc Raida and a benefit for his wife and children will take place at BB Kings underground in Times Square, New York City, on Oct 22nd. Featuring performances by the X-men / X-ecutioners (Rob Swift, DJ Precision, Total Eclipse), Boogie Blind, Beat Junkies (Babu, J-Rocc, Rhettmatic, Shortkut), Craze, A-Trak, Z-trip, DJ Scratch, Roli Rho, I Dee, and more including a special MC performance by the Diggin In The Crates crew (DITC).

RIP ROC RAIDA :: WORLD’S BEST TURNTABLIST

Master turntablist DJ Roc Raida (B. Anthony Williams) passed away today. Part of the original DJ collective and turntablist group the X-ecutioners, (formerly known as X-Men), Raida’s vinyl exploits quickly earned him a reputation as one of the best DJs in the world. He captured the DMC World DJ Championship in 1995 with his superb beat-juggling, seamless mixing, and flawless, ambidextrous execution. He was so talented, he could literally spin with his arms behind his back. Not only a master of the turntables, Raida was also an accomplished martial artist.
