CMJ 2011: The Hits & Misses

The week-long marathon digested in what was great and not-so great. 

Well, it came and went just like that. CMJ 2011 was an interesting marathon of music and events to say the least, sprouting sprinkles of interesting parties, media-sponsored bonanzas that were “too exclusive” for other outlets to cover, and showcases that covered acts in the worlds of hip-hop, indie and trash maybe all too much. While CMJ was business as usual for some media (and of course college radio stations), it provided a very sobering look into how things have changed for the marathon festival. Whether it be the economy or the current musical business climate, CMJ did feel more segmented than ever before. Regardless, there were some definite highlights and lowlights from the fest. Ok CMJ-ubiliees CM- Jumping Jacks….CM-Jambalaya

THe Fun Starts now. Yesterday. Actually Tuesday..but who cares. I can only stomach going to so many shows. I have seen a mix of everything. Last night we were in Brooklyn watching Zambri, a team of italian sisters who kick ass and rock with multiple microphones and weird instrumentations sounds. Right now we are in NJ (recovering)

Later we are in MANHATTAN because its a matter of Life Or Death.

Tonight (10/20) the Life or Death Showcase @The Cake Shop will havea kck ass show with indie madness and comple trash talk vibes. If you don’t know who wise blood is, think soundtrack to pop horror and Trash Talk is making waves on Spin Magazine. Chelsea Wolfe is also a big pick!
