This double-whammy comes care of Mixmag, and they hooked us up with two slammin’ mixes. First, Tiga’s has Zombie Nation’s “Worth It pt. 1.,” ZZT’s “The Worm” (Original Munich version), and Tiga’s own “Shoes” (Mr. Oizo remix). On Fanciulli’s mix, you get The Mole’s “Acadian,” “Sebo K’s “Sax” (Reboots twisted First rework) and Joris Voorn’s “We’re All Clean Test,” among others.
Chromeo, Canada’s top purveyors of new school funk and 80s soul revivalists, have been tabbed to compile the next edition of the esteemed DJ Kicks mix series. They’re even stepping up and giving away a free download of their cover of The Eagles’ “I Can’t Tell You Why” which you can nab by providing an e-mail address at chromeo-dj-kicks.com.
With their mix of early 80s disco and R&B they join other artists like Kruder & Dorfmeister, Tiga, Hot Chip and Booka Shade who have had their own fun under the DJ Kicks banner. Expect to hear the sounds of Leo Sayer, The Alan Parsons Project and others in Chromeo’s mix.
The Annual HARD Summer will take The Forum in Los Angeles by storm on Aug 8th, featuring: Underworld (Live), Crookers, Chromeo, Crystal Castles, A-Trak, Tiga, The Bloody Beetroots, Sebastian, Busy P, Amanda Blank, Steve Aoki, Sinden, Jack Beats, Rye Rye, Destructo, Skeet Skeet, Dan Oh, and 12th Planet.
This new remix from Boom Bip might sound like some sort of tween nightmare. But it’s in fact a remix for the theme to OMG BFF LOL, an animated project by artist Charlie White currently showing at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Which in a way makes it cool. But it still has that jokey vibe ala Tiga’s “Shoes,” which will evidentally be all the rage this year.
