The moodiest tune off of Atmosphere’s 2011 album, The Family Sign, has been given an equally moody video, compliments of a collaboration between the Minnesota School of Business, MTS Digital Media Academy, Alex Horner Pictures, and Hickey Photography. 2011 marks Atmosphere’s 18th year of repping Minneapolis hip-hop (and sad backpacker boys worldwide), and we’re still excited to hear new music coming from Slug and Ant. As we keep pointing out, Atmosphere has been leaning heavily on their hometown love lately, extensively touring in their homestate of Minnesota while naming their new album The Family Sign. Slug kept with the theme last night, debuting the album’s first single on local public radio station The Current. Minneapolis hip-hop veterans Atmosphere are getting ready to release their first proper album since 2008’s When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold. But there’s been plenty of new music from Slug and Ant, in the form of various digital releases, free and monetized (including the Too All My Friends EP, which you voted as the Best Album of 2010, despite it’s limited release).
Last week, we reported that Atmosphere was embarking on a tour of their homestate of Minnesota, and releasing the free track “Minnesota Nice” to commemorate the occasion.
