Jack White & Danger Mouse :: “Two Against One” (MP3)

You knew Jack White wasn’t going to stay quiet following the news of The White Stripes splitting up last week. Hell, the fallow years leading up the duo’s split were some of White’s most prolific, with The Raconteuers and The Dead Weather releasing no less than three albums since the Stripes unintended swan song, 2007’s Icky Thump. So it’s little surprise to hear White pop up on this new project by cross-genre producer Danger Mouse, whose studio pairing have ranged from hit making with Damon Albarn (as Gorillaz) and Cee-Lo (as Gnarls Barkley) to more oblique work with David Lynch and Sparklehorse.

“Two Against One” finds White contributing vocals to Danger Mouse’s latest collaboration with Italian composer Daniele Luppi under the name Rome. It’s quiet yet foreboding acoustic melodramatic sound is exactly the sort of song we like to hear White over when the guitars aren’t wailing.

You can hear it over at Antiquiet. …MORE

While you will notice Thom Yorke and Muse are missing from our list, that doesn’t mean we don’t endorse them. Au contraire, we do and we know everyone wants the bragging rights to make Facebook updates like “Thom Yorke killed it,” so we just skipped to other folks.

The Dead Weather :: New Album Coming Soon (Video)

Hold your horses, the follow-up to The Dead Weather’s first album, Horehound, is in the works, and may even be released as early as April 2010! In an interview with Australian radio station Triple J, Jack White promised that the new album would be “blusier and heavier than we ever though.” YES. What’s more? Jack White will be giving up his seat behind the drums to tear up the lead vocals (the spot that Alison Mosshart of The Kills has kept warm all this time) on the first single, “Blue Blood Blues.” The quartet will be touring North America this Spring (hopefully performing songs off of the new album along the way), making a pit stop at the Coachella festival!

“I Cut Like A Buffalo”  music video below – one of my favorites (and I can say that with confidence):…
