Simon Baker’s Hamster House

Simon Baker interview

Simon Baker just released his debut album Traces; an album that displays all of his musical sides and a wide range of House and Techno styles. His production is timeless, and his remixes are equally defined and sought after. This month his single “No Pressure” got released with a superb remix by Art Department, adding new vocals over a slow, hypnotic beat. We had a little chat with the DJ veteran.

Your music is very timeless, is that something you aim for?
Definitely not, but thanks, it’s a great compliment!  I have been making House and Techno music for quite a few years now and still use a lot of outboard gear as I did when I first started out, so maybe that has something to do …

STREAM :: Crystal Castles w/Robert Smith “Not In Love” (MP3)

When you really think about it, add twenty year, 150 lbs and 18-inches of to Crystal Castle’s Alice Glass and you’ve basically got The Cure’s Robert Smith. So it made perfect sense when it was announced 24 hours ago that the great uncle of mope-rock would join the enfant terribles of angstlectro on a new single. The stream of the song is already up, and it features mostly Smith on vocals while Alice mumurs some backing on the chorus and producer Ethan Kath provides some seering white noise for the famed alt-rock to croon over.

Jahcoozi – Barefoot Wanderer (Review)

Jahcoozi

Barefoot Wanderer

Released by BPitch Control

An amendment is in order, as the songs of Berlin-based trio Sasha Perera, Oren Gerlitz and Robot Koch aka Jahcoozi comfortably fits with “music that moves your body, lyrics that stimulate your cerebral cortex.” However…

Ninca Leece – There is No One Else When I Lay Down and Dream (Review)

Ninca Leece

There Is No One Else Around When I Lay Down And Dream

Released by Bureau B

Ninca Leece writes, plays, records and produces her own material. It’s electro-pop with deep, throbbing bass, and the French artist flirts with minimal house and glitchy beats on her debut, There is No One Else When I Lay Down and Dream. But with the naive and simple lyrics, it almost sounds like a cheap Euro version of Dani Siciliano. She lists early New Order and My Bloody Valentine as inspirations, but her own vocals are very light-weight.
