We’ve had a week to recover, and we still can’t get over how much fun the second annual IndiOa2i2 party was at Coachella. From ex-Smiths bassist Andy Rourke and Macy Gray to Danny Masterson and Yelawolf, DJs and MCs rocked our party from Friday til Sunday while party guests Z-Trip, Rosario Dawson and Katy Perry enjoyed the flawless desert weather.

In 2003, I moved to Los Angeles mere months before the 2004 Coachella Festival. As the line-up was announced—Radiohead, Pixies, Kraftwerk, the excitement was palpable. Then one day a few weeks before the show, a package arrived at URB HQ. In the envelope was a a bunch of CDs labeled John Beaver Coachella DJ mix. Those CDs took me all the way out to Indio for the first time, and every year since, I wait for the Beaver mix (now Beaver and Radman) to carry me out to the desert. Download this double disc set and let it carry you as well.
Well, here’s Lolla’s attempt to hold down the hipsterness of Chicago this summer. It’s a strong lineup with tons of recognizable bands, but I’m not convinced it’s the festival of the summer. It seems relatively run-of-the mill, but I will say that New York’s Los Amigos Invisibles will be totally cool to see and they bring some much needed alternative flair.
Full lineup below. Tickets are $215 here and it takes place in Grant Park, Chicago on August 6-8.
