INTERVIEW: A Few of Telepathe’s Favorite Things

The pop duo format has come a long way in the past few decades. From the pastoral harmonies of Simon and Garfunkel to the flamboyant teen pop of Wham! to the bluesy drones of the White Stripes, these musical pairings have continually proven that two’ s company when it comes to creating enduring tunes. Brooklyn’ s Telepathe is the next stage in the evolution of the pop duo – and pop music, for that matter. The female twosome, consisting of Busy Gangnes and Melissa Livaudais, crafts transcendent, synth-laden future-pop that envelopes listeners in its ethereal sounds. TV on the Radio Tour

TV on the Radio will be releasing their new album, titled Dear Science (DGC/Interscope Records) on Sep 23, 2008. Make sure to check that out.

They also just announced their North American Tour dates. The tour will begin in Portland, OR on Sep 5th and will conclude in Los Angeles, CA on Nov 6th. If you get to check out the tour, you will get to hear the new song’s from their 3rd full length album. Guest appearances and opening acts by Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, and the Dirtbombs, on select dates.

Diplo, Pizza and a Hot Dog

The Mad Decent tour hit LA Nov 4th with Diplo, Abe Vigoda, Telepathe, and a dancing Hot Dog and Pizza (courtesy of Diplo). Whenever a pause in music appeared, people yelled OBAMA! They were psyched, even at a non-election night affiliated party where they got nothing for free, except smiles and the sweat falling off other people.

Telepathe’s an interesting concept. Mellow in demeanor, but throw a thick gold chain on that chillness and you get these wild colors and a pretty heady beat barrage, growing expansive while remaining very contained. Like a haiku.
