Cirque Du Soleil’s THE LIGHT Set To Ignite in March 2013 (Video)

 

Cirque Du Soleil is getting the electronic music facelift in 2013 with the help of The Light Group and MGM Resorts International…and its going to be legit.

The LIGHT at Mandalay Bay is launching in March 2013 as Cirque Du Soleil’s first nightclub venture – entering with all the shock and awe that their numerous productions are known for – including video mapping, lighting and sound and special effects from experts Moment Factory. The 38,000 square foot venue will “serve as a laboratory, very much like [Cirque Du Soleil's] special events and projects have done int he past, for different and new artistic possibilites,” said Gay Laliberte, Founder of Cirque Du Soleil. A Guy Called Gerald Calls Deadmau5 A “Greedy Rat Head Fuck” – Anti-Semitic?

UPDATE: We didn’t catch this when reading A Guy Called Gerald’s scathing statement about Deadmau5, but is the line “The only button you and people like you are interested in pushing is a nuke for the Palestinians.” an anti-semitic slur towards the presumably jewish Joel Zimmerman? Deadmau5 seems to think so in his response:

“i dont give a fuck. esp with the anti-sematic statement about ‘nuking palestine’ ??? what an ignorant fuck. im not going to even give him the time of day. waste of time. let him go back to being no longer relevant.”

This just got a whole lot weirder.

Who Are The World’s 30 Richest DJs?

A successful world-traveling DJ friend once said that he DJs for free, he gets paid to travel. And while the road-warrior lifestyle of some globetrotting DJs might be a little stressful, it’s surely better than pretty much any other job in the universe. After all, you don’t see too many DJs quitting the gig in order to stay home and open up a fly fishing shop, do you?

There’s no denying that dance music is big business making big money these days. But how much money is really being made and how much of it is ending up in the pockets of the DJs who draw the millions of fans to EDM events around the world? The somewhat questionable website, Celebrity Networth seems to know the answer to what DJs have in the piggybank. And you might be surprised at some of the names towards the top of the highest-valued jocks. Granted, the site gives no information as to where they’re estimates come from, so take this with a grain of salt. But rest assured, these DJs are making more than you for working less — guaranteed.

Radiohead, Dr. Dre & Snoop and The Black Keys Headline Coachella 2012

Coachella has announced their 2012 line-up, which will take place for the first time over two weekend, Apr 13-15 and 20-22. Radiohead, Dr. Dre & Snoop and The Black Keys all signed on for headline spots, along with Swedish House Mafia, Justice, Kaskade and DJ Shadow. The big reunion for 2012 is So Cal post-emo legends At The Drive-In.
