Lazy photoshopping aside, news of a new album from The Sea and Cake is making us incredibly jazzed. Their seventh full-length and first in four years will hit stores on May 8 on their familiar Thrill Jockey home. Sam Prekop, Archer Prewitt, John McEntire and Erik Claridge's beautiful brand of pillowy pop has been the staple of lazy mornings, simultaneously capable of exhaling sunshine on sunny days and absorbing the cold dampness of rain when the sky is gray.

The long-time rock video directing team “Hammer & Tongs” (Garth Jennings & Nick Goldsmith) responsible for classics like Beck's “Lost Cause,” Blur's “Coffee & TV,” and Badly Drawn Boy's “Something to Talk About,” have set Sundance on fire. The team was previously responsible for the pretty-good Mos Def-starring Hitchhiker's adaptation, but in Son of Rambow, a coming-of-age story about a boy who discovers the magic of cinema in the 80's, picks up a camera, and sets about shooting his own sequel to First Blood, the guys seem to have found their masterpiece. The picture received rave reviews and wild receptions at the screenings, and now has sold to Paramount Vantage (their Miramax wannabe) for a whopping $8 million.
