News of a hip hop release date is always a bit suspect and subject to change, (I’m looking at you Raekown and Kid Sister) but the latest from Downtown Records is the debut album from Spank Rock foil Amanda Blank hits the shelves Jul 14. I Love You will showcase the racy and boisterous Blank rhyming and singing over beats from Diplo, Switch and XXXChange, with guest support from Spank Rock, Santigold, Lykke Li and the Cool Kids.
Vice Records’ own Chromeo will be making a cameo performance on the latest episode of Yo Gabba Gabba! on Friday, Feb 27th. The popular children’s television show is broadcast on Nick Jr. and wil also guest star Rachel Dratch and Biz Markie. Check your local listings for showtimes.
The convergence of two major, established forces in music has rarely resulted in anything less than a disaster. Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson’ s brief partnership ended with the theft of the Beatles catalog and decades of resentment. The Best of Both Worlds and Unfinished Business, the two mediocre LPs born out of the R. Kelly/Jay-Z collaboration, proved that their business together should have been finished before it even began. Lots more leakage from N.A.S.A., with two tracks surfacing. It’s great to see Sam and Ze getting all this attention. Hard to believe it’s been almost a year since our party together at SXSW.

Not doubting the stuff either way, I watched this little clip and found it pretty interesting. I also found it a little fascinating seeing as how a cartel as out-of-touch and, per recently, understaffed (anybody notice John Norris is missing all of a sudden?) as MTV can pick up on the nuances a little touch of of chocolate can add to an already beleaguered genre such as “punk rock”. Bravo MTV! A highly enjoyable three minutes and kudos for pointing to Trace magazine!
