AM & Shawn Lee & I, Ced are two musical flavors that we out right love here at the URB SF offices, so to get both of them on the same track was like mixing chocolate and peanut butter for our ears. Leading off the musical goodness to be dropped by AM & Shawn Lee on their forthcoming (August 20th) remix album of May’s La Musique Numerique, I,Ced softens up the originals’s drum/bass tones and drops this squarely into a sonic territory that can be only be described as somewhere half way between the Isley’s and the Mothership. It’s a downright spacey soul joint that is easy on the ears and has just the right amount of airy sensualness for that morning reach around. (The views of this …
Seems like everything Snakehips puts their soulful touch on just hits in all the right places. Ever since fellow UK production duo Bondax dropped their remix of Wild Belle’s “It’s Too Late” in a mix last November we’ve been checking for anything and everything they’ve attached their name to.
Their remix of Warm Water is sure to gain them some much deserved attention from those of us who hunger for mid tempo soul that’s been updated for 2013. Those rhodes + atmospherics with those silky vocals on top will set the mood just right at your summer time cookout or early evening club set. Definitely a name to keep your eye on!
We’ve been sitting on this URB World Premiere of Mars Today’s The ‘F’ In Sexy for a minute, but we can’t keep it to ourselves any longer. That being said you’ve been forewarned, the track is statistically proven to lead to ‘procreative exercises.’
The feeling that the track puts out can only be described by the immortal words of Tracy Morgan/Jordan… ‘someone’s gettin’ pregnant tonight.’
In all seriousness, The ‘F’ In Sexy is subtly sublime and super sexy. The track floats like something you might whisper into your shorty’s ear, this is definitely one of those tracks that will sneak onto more than one playlist as the temperature gets hotter.
Stay tuned for more on Mars Today and a special ticket drop for his upcoming show!

Classic, classic, classic. UK soul-stress, Harleighblu has been championed by many in this latest wave of ingenues sporting the stylings of the ‘full-voiced classic soul songstress.’ Just a hair’s breath shy of 21, there is a quality in her voice that belies her age which easily draws similar comparisons to her cited influences of Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Floetry. We aren’t the only ones to have noticed this, the lead track, Enough Now, off of her upcoming debut on Tru Thoughts, Forget Me Not, created such a fervor on Mistajam’s BBC 1XTRA show, that it carried the rare feat of being played back to back, and Mistajam declaring, “The new queen of hip hop soul. Every time I play this one it goes off!”
