Keisuke Yoshino’s been all around the world and weaves musical genres to create a dream-like state. URB first selected one of his tracks for our Next 1000 back in 2009, and the Japanese-born, Montreal-based artist describes his sound as ambient and deceptively simple. This time around, we caught up with Keisuke to meet the voyager behind the music.
From the moment Esko Robinson started writing to clear his mind, he was hooked. Soon he was performing for his friends and when he saw others around him succeeding, he decided to dedicate himself to a career in hip-hop. Between recording and starting a talent collective, Esko is on the hunt for the best words and hopes to drop rhymes old school style with some of the game’s most iconic names. He calls himself a “time traveler trapped in the universe of his own mind.” Meet Esko.
This fresh Connecticut-based rapper describes his music sounding like what would happen if a listener put on his headphones and listened exclusively to underground rap, hardcore and punk until, finally, his head exploded. We think that is meant as a good thing, and Skobie Won won’t be making such accidents anytime soon–what with his sophomore album in the works for a summertime release to producing other rappers–he is still cranking up the volume.
