Vote Yes On Prop 19 :: Twelve Songs About Weed

Tomorrow, California residents will take to the polls and push the lever on a historic ballot initative, Prop 19, that could legalise the sale, possesion and taxation of marijuana for personal use for anyone over the age of 21. And while Prop 19 is currently behind in the polls thanks to a well-funded push by corporate interests (booze, phamacutical) who will win if the measure loses, we at URB are wholey behind the sensible legalization of marijuana. Sonic Youth Plan 17th Studio Album x DVD Release

There’s no such thing as “too much of a good thing,” and I am happy to report that one of the best bands in the history of mankind (whoa) is planning another record on the heels of 2009’s The Eternal. Lee Ranaldo hinted to NME that they will “most probably going back into the studio next year.” However, they are still touring the current record and are enjoying that.

“We’re still deeply ensconced in our new record, so we’re gonna play a lot of The Eternal,” Ranaldo told BBC 6 Music, “that’s what we’re having the most fun with.”

I just caught the band last month in Boston, and the experience reminded me that I was born at the wrong time. Oh well, there’s a solution for that, too. The planned DVD release will …
