Sonar, the venerable Barcelona festival that has been presenting edgy electronic music and art since 1994, has announced its first full tour of the US. After previous one-off stops in NYC and Chicago, Sonar will take to the road, hitting seven major cities kicking off Oct 31 in Chicago. As you’d expect from Sonar, the line-up is forward thinking dance music, from the live acts Die Antwoord, Azari + III and Berlin’s Paul Kalkbrenner, to DJs Tiga, Seth Troxler, Nic Fanciulli and Gesaffelstein. While we eagerly await Shed’s forthcoming LP on 50Weapons in July, we’ve started digging for sounds to keep us occupied in the interim and unearthed this gem. Below you can stream or download a fifty-minute live set from Shed, recorded in 2009 at Sonar. It features not only live Shed tracks, but also some of the work he’s released as EQD and Wax. MELT Festival—located a quick 90 minute train ride from the European party epicenter of Berlin again gains much of it’s stature from it’s amazing venue, Ferropoilis, an outdoor museum of massive modern industrial machines located at the site of an old strip mine.
