Miguel Atwood-Ferguson : “Celebrate Tradition” Interview (Video)

Here are some of my shorthand notes based around a conversation I had with Miguel Atwood-Ferguson at his apartment in July 2010.  all of the quotes are not verbatim and are simply some of his thoughts jotted down by me. When I arrived at his home for our interview, the front door was ajar, “It’s actually perfect timing. I’ve been on the phone all day, booking rehearsals.” He admits once I walk inside, “The Prophet” by Kahlil Gibran grabs my eye on top of a stack of books, across from hundreds of CDs neatly lined against the wall. Framed posters of past masters frame the musical instruments in the living room, which has a shrine in the center.

SA-RA and Breezy Love Joy at Zanzibar (Live Review)

June 26th 2010. SA-RA rocks the midnight hour at zanzibar in Santa Monica, Ca. Damefifty5 came out with only a drummer. A few songs lead to “Buzz Lightyear”. A female fan hands him a daisy as he claims “I was onstage at electric daisy festival yesterday, this is beautiful.” The DJ Skitz comes out at the drop of a hat and plays some mood music between sets. Nola Darling comes out in their monogram “ND” jackets, warning “the mighty SA-RA is coming.” Om’mas takes the stage in a shimmering cape followed by Shafiq Husyan in camolague army jacket with his signature beret and black stunner shades “The L’s coming.” …MORE

THEESatisfaction Loves Sa-Ra Creative Partners (Review)

THEESatisfaction

Loves Sa-Ra Creative Partners

If your not familiar with Seattle based female duo "THEESatisfaction" then download the Sa-Ra inspired mixtape. Azimuth and Altitude aside,  "Intergalactic Church"  had my head bobbing right away, your going to want to play more than once in the planetarium. I just had the pleasure of catching them play "That's So Indie" #2 at the world famous Kaos Network last tuesday, in a room full of lovely women of all shapes, sizes, and colors. "Bisexual" Remix, goes so hard in person I was part of the mob shouting lyrics and losing it in the front row. THEE Stasia and Catherine Satisfaction's stage performance was quite captivating to say the least, only taking break during the set "cause we love to dance".... So did the crowd. MTV even has them teaching you Egyptian/Greek mythology, and Shakespeare in this clip of all things THEE. With more honest/catchy lyrics, infectious beats, and venue wrecking sets, THEESatisfaction's next project could be called "The Taming of the Shrew: (Industry this means you)" http://theesatisfaction.bandcamp.com/
