Stone Roses, Blur, Phoenix, Red Hot Chili Peppers Headline Coachella 2013

The line-up is out for the 14th Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and there’s a lot of reasons for music fans to be excited, especially those obsessed with early-’90s UK music. Friday night will feature co-headliners Blur and The Stone Roses, two seminal UK acts that have reformed in recent years, much to brit-pop lover’s delight.

Saturday proves it still possible for newer bands to hit massive success, with French indie-poppers Phoenix handling headlining duties, followed by UK phenoms The xx. Sunday offers veteran fare with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, two acts who have been making music since before the average Coachella camper was born.

Die Antwoord, Azari + III, Tiga, Seth Troxler :: Sonar Announces U.S. Tour

Sonar, the venerable Barcelona festival that has been presenting edgy electronic music and art since 1994, has announced its first full tour of the US. After previous one-off stops in NYC and Chicago, Sonar will take to the road, hitting seven major cities kicking off Oct 31 in Chicago. As you’d expect from Sonar, the line-up is forward thinking dance music, from the live acts Die Antwoord, Azari + III and Berlin’s Paul Kalkbrenner, to DJs Tiga, Seth Troxler, Nic Fanciulli and Gesaffelstein. Rhonda Does SXSW

Famed LA party A Club Called Rhonda just announced it’s taking a trip to Austin for Southby and bringing the likes of DJ Harvey (first TX appearance), the always insane Seth Troxler, Stones Throw honcho Peanut Butter Wolf, Echo Park debaucherist Goddollars, and the ying to GD’s yang Gregory Alexander on the mic. Festival-going DJ fans can mark this as one of the first times SXSW’s been able to pull the type of talent that usually reserves their revelry for WMC.
