Last week marked Amsterdam Dance Event 2011, the European electronic music conference that has become the premier gathering of dance music professionals looking to get business done during the day while still hitting the best parties at night. Burning Man starts tomorrow, which means a whole lot of people doing a whole lot of dancing out in the desert. What was once known mainly as a hippy festival has become a hot gig for international DJs covering the range of electronic dance music. With soundsystems running all night-long (and all day too), there’s far to many DJs to list. So here’s URB’s picks for the DJs we’d like to see at Burning Man 2011. Going back to Detroit every year for Movement festival is a special time for me and this year was no exception. In addition to the festival, it’s an opportunity to reunite with family and friends who I haven’t had a chance to see since Christmas. Techno mega-outlet Resident Advisor have released their annual Best DJs Poll, with enigmatic icon Ricardo Villalobos topping the list, while two Detroit ex-pats, Richie Hawtin and Seth Troxler, round out the top three in this Euro-centric look at the world’s best jocks.
