Righteous Fists Of Harmony

Released by Brainfeeder

Righteous Fists of Harmony is a new accessible record by eclectic wizard Alfred Darlington since his solid 2008 album Love To Make Music To. It's his first album on Flying Lotus' imprint Brainfeeder, and he’s very comfortable in that company. The EP is a requiem for the end—of beliefs, of lives, and of an era. And it’s based on the Boxer Rebellion; a force of resistance fighters calling themselves “The Righteous Fists of Harmony” during an uprising that took place in response to British imperialist expansion, growth of cosmopolitan influences and missionary evangelism in China between 1898 and 1901. It reflects a similar battle we have today against the constant race for new technology and forgetting about old values.

Charlotte Gainsbourg On Music, Film, Self-Identity (Video)

Charlotte Gainsbourg earnestly and affably discusses her life and self-perception, noting that despite a nearly life-long career acting, singing and modeling, she doesn’t consider herself an Artist, and she reflects on how this may actually be reassuring and maybe affords her a healthy distance from the trappings of the compulsory creation of work. Charlotte Gainsbourg x Beck “Heaven Can Wait” (Video)

Check out the Keith Schofield directed video for Charlotte Gainsbourg’s new single, “Heaven Can Wait.” Charlotte’s career took off to a rockin’ start way back in 1984 when she sang on her father’s (Serge Gainsbourg–French icon, singer, actor) hit “Lemon Incest.” Since, Charlotte has released two studio albums. IRM, Charlotte’s third LP, is set to release in Europe in December, with a January 2010 release date in the States. The French singer/actor’s upcoming album is all the talk due to its superstar producer, Beck, who also collaborated on many a track, singing along on the first single. IRM, which stands for “Imagerie par Résonance Magnétique,” or in English terms, MRI,  is said to be the result of a highly creative period in Charlotte’s life after a near death experience during a water skiing accident back in 2007. Get your ears ready… should be …

3 NA MASSA: Her Name Is Rio

Brazilian actresses sing the song of sex with 3 Na Masa (by Lissetta Corsa)

Imagine a movie montage culled from the frames of Federico Fellini’s La Strada and Roger Vadim’s kitschy 1968 sci-fi fantasy Barbarella set to the lush musings of a smoky-voiced Brazilian siren cooing in Portuguese. Now picture the scene unraveling at Coney Island’s Astroland staring an actress on a Freudian carousel ride of her innermost salacious acts.

It may sound contrived, but for São Paulo, Brazil, trio 3 Na Massa (3 In the Dough), the idea to penetrate the female libido through music stemmed from such visual mash-ups. One part Rica Amabis, the producer behind São Paulo hip-hop collective Instituto, and two parts Pupillo and Dengue, members of the seminal Recife rock outfit Naçao Zumbi, 3 Na Massa began sampling sonic driftscapes on a computer in their shared quarters before finally making it seamless in the studio.

“It became natural,” Amabis says of …
