Beestings & Nosebleeds Mix

Beestings & Nosebleeds is a popular summer event series from dubFrequency that takes place at the rooftop of The Standard Downtown LA every three Saturdays. So far this summer’s performers/DJ’s include Wale, Junior Sanchez, Rob Roy, Hollywood Holt, Hey Champ and Mike B. among others; showcase of a wide range of musical genres next to a pool and free jello shots. Wale Blows The Standard LA’s Rooftop

Saturday afternoons in downtown Los Angeles are normally chill and sometimes even down right quiet. This past Saturday afternoon was an exception though as Wale simply made the typical spectacular. Performing in Beestings and Nosebleeds, Wale blew the swank rooftop of the Standard Hotel in LA. He ripped the mic with cuts like “Nike Boots” and “Chillin.” Also sharing the floor with Wale at this afternoon hiphop show were Carter and Dude Royal, while DJ’s Jayceeoh, Lady Sha, Sourmilk, and Nicky Savage provided their own DJ sets.

Check out the event photos and videos of Wale’s performance.

INTERVIEW: Exile ‘Reimaging the Instrumental CD’

URB caught up with Exile to find out more about the concept behind L.A. Radio, to discuss his next …

Saccenti takes on an aesthetic that has been described as “baroque futurism” and is heavily influenced by Le Planete Sauvage, the ’70’s animation from Rene Laloux in which a giant alien race keeps humanoid type creatures as pets. Huh?

“The Futurists were passionate about destroying the old and creating new forms of art and that is something I can very much relate to, sans the politics,” tells former URB cover photographer turned video maverick Timothy Saccenti. ” But I also tend toward the epic and emotional, a la …

Savage Island

An artist with a name like Savage would make one assume that he is going to bring the heat to a track. Lyrically annihilate the track with his long standing metaphors and unique flow. Unfortunately, this particular album from Savage sounds closer to a bunch of noise rather than a rap album. 'Knock A Hater Out' is my first example with the chorus being 'Blew! Knock a hater out with that booyakabooyaka!'. Some tracks do require raw emotion of that kind but not throughout the entire ...
