Maybe it’s something in the air. Or more likely the stems recently leaked. However it came to be, here’s the third version of Men Without Hats’ ’80s classic “Safety Dance” in as many months. This one comes from LA “beat” hero Daedelus as part of All City Records monthly LA 10″ series. Play it back to back against Diplo’s track with Paper Route Gangstaz and Dilla’s own “Safety Dance” cover, and we can’t decide which one is superior. How would you rate them?

Not sure what exactly is going on this summer with all the sudden attention being paid to Men Without Hats. First, Diplo sampled the group’s only major contribution to Western society on a new cut, “Stop N Go” for ‘Bama crew Paper Route Gangstaz. And now RCRDLBL has unearthed an instrumental cover of the 1982 classic by none other than the mighty J Dilla.
