The Funk League – The Boogie Down Bombers feat. Diamond D & Sadat X (MP3)

The Funk League, the production duo consisting of Paris representatives, Hugo and Soulbrother Suspect, are preparing to release their album “Funky As Usual” on January 24th. Their love for record digging and sampling caught the attention of folks like Diamond D and Large Professor, two artists who have supported this project via their participation in the album. The album is entirely produced by the Funk League but features artists such as Diamond D, Large Professor, Sadat X, Afrika Bambaataa, Gift of Gab, A.G., and others.

The Funk League – On & On feat. Sadat X + Album Video Teaser/Interview (Video)

The Paris production duo, The Funk League, is comprised of Hugo and Soulbrother Suspect. Together, as The Funk League, they are preparing to release their album “Funky As Usual” on January 24th via Favorite Recordings. “Funky As Usual” was recently released in France, but the worldwide release is January 24th.

Funky As Usual” is ode to the golden age / boom-bap hip hop era which features some of that era’s elite including Large Professor, Diamond D, Sadat X, A.G., Gift of Gab and others. The Funk League brings back the SP 1200 sound without sounding outdated and throwback.

A new 7″ with Large Professor will be released in January 2012 and his debut album “Standard Life” is set for a February 2012 release.

Based out of Dallas, Texas, Gensu Dean is a producer who has been quietly laying down some heavy tracks. Sure, 1976 Iowa does not really sound like the type of place that would yield underground greatness in the hip-hop scene, but then again, what else would Coolzey have done to pass his time? Though nobody really knows, luckily, nobody really has to. The Honey at a glance seems like another good’ole fashioned ten song hip-hop album. Upon further inspection, it becomes quite clear that there is a little bit more going on.
