Who (or what) is Destroid?

KJ Sawka

By now most EDM and Rock fans are well aware of who and what Destroid is.  The Electronic Rock outfit led by Canadian bass master Excision, Downlink, and drummer KJ Sawka of Pendulum fame was created not just to make music but also to be able to take their ideas into a live show and performance and take EDM and Bass from behind the decks and drop it right on top of the crowd — like an anvil destroying any preconceptions on what to expect at a live event.

A ‘live’ show indeed… if you haven’t had a chance to actually check these guys out… it’s …

SXSW Watch – Saints of Valory (Video & MP3)

No strangers to URB, Saints of Valory launched a self titled EP March 7th on Billboard.com in conjunction with the Billboard/Chevy Road to the Billboard Music Awards contest.  Containing a trifecta of songs that paint a picture of the varying sounds and emotion that the quartet is known to elicit, the sound is equal parts Black Keys, Coldplay, and Killers.

Quite literally an international band, the Austin based band is composed of Frontman Gavin Jasper, from Rio de Janeiro Brazil, guitarist Godfrey Thomson, from southern California, drummer Gerard Bouvier, from France, & keyboardist Stephen Buckle hails from Canada.  With a reputation that is fast growing as big as their sound, we recommend catching the band during SXSW during the following dates:

Rapping With Paul White

Released by One-Handed Music

Part hip-hop, part electrofunk and part space-jazz, UK producer Paul White’s new record Rapping With Paul White, is a genre-bending mixture of geographically diverse sounds. In addition to the already mentioned stellar collaborations, there are some intelligently composed tracks ...

Immensely talented, the Swedish quartet functions organically and collectively, as all members of the group substantially contribute to the overall sensation of the music: the synths are deep, the basslines heavy and pronounced, with (nu)jazz percussion facilitating movement between the soloists and the beautiful Japanese-Swedish vocalist Yukimi Nagano.

The show began with the opening track from their new album; title track “Ritual Union,” a tune threaded together with dark and hollow synthesizers with enough bounce to get a solid two-step going. An effective and delightful warm-up leading up to the equally soulful and effervescent second track …

STS9 @ House of Blues Sunset 08/11/11 (Live Review)

Having listened to STS9’s albums multiple times, working through their dense instrumentation and well-crafted harmonies on several occasions, this still proved to be very little in preparing me for their live performance. Showcasing their funk, electro, and hip-hop style through their diverse and contagious melodies, STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) gave one impressive and memorable performance at the House of Blues Sunset last Thursday. Starting off their set with “Be Nice,” the live session started at an already elevated level, coupled with the anticipation by fans, all was equally matched by the collective energies of the Hollywood venue. At times dubstep, techno, but always surprisingly funky EDM, STS9 delivered in the first half of their show with tracks such as “One a Day,” “Hidden …
