Fat Beats, the indie hip-hop label-slash-record store has announce they will be deleting the “slash” from the description by closing their two retail locations, including the New York flagship store, which has been open since 1994, and the Melrose Ave store in Los Angeles, a sort of base-camp for much of the city’s indie hip-hop community.
The company’s record label, online sales and distribution company—which has had it’s hand on legendary releases by Atmosphere, Roc Raida, Big Daddy Kane and donzens of other hip-hop legends— will continue operations.
The New York store will be closing on September 4th and the LA store on September 18th. Keep an eye on the Fat Beats website to learn about closing sales and special events.
