J Cole – “How High” (MP3)

Here is a new J Cole track that is creating buzz all over the web. Everyone has their own opinion on what project this track will be featured on. My only input on this track, is that it proves this guy is not a one hit wonder. He continues to set the bar high for his upcoming album. Enjoy!

J.Cole: So Far, So Good (Video & MP3)

J. Cole’s mixtape history suggests he’s been preparing for his rapid rise to stardom for quite some time: First there is 2007’s “The Come Up,” which (more or less) documents the North Carolinian’s move to New York City, and then 2009’s basketball- themed “The Warm Up,” which takes Cole’s brilliantly raw lyricism to an even deeper level. Jay Electronica – “The Announcement” (MP3)

Following last week’s annoucement that Jay Electronica has been signed by Jay-Z to Roc Nation, one could have suspected a little hubris from that camp. Of course, that’s fine so long as it comes in the form of JLex (will that stick?) sgnature style—in this case, sampling John F. Kennedy Jr. in his infamous 1961 speech announcing the nation’s goal of putting a man on the moon. It took eight years to accomplish that feat. One wonders how long it’ll take for The Nation to put Electronica’s abstract style on the radio.

Jay Electronica Signs To Roc Nation

Jay-Z Discoveres "New Wizard" Three Years After URB Readers

It’s always bittersweet when one of your favorite artists reaches a career pinnicle years after you’ve been championing him. When we first heard that Jay-Z had signed Jay Electronica to The Roc—three years after he appeared on our Next 100 cover—our first thought was “what took so long.” Then we wondered if maybe we should call up Hova and tell him to give us an A&R job with medical, dental, 401k and a company AMEX card, that way we could stop blogging and start “living.” Saves everyone a bunch of time if you think about it. …MORE
