URB Exclusive: Phenomenal Handclap Band’s “The Journey To Serra Da Estrella” Remixed by Fujiya + Miyagi (MP3)

This version keeps “The Journey…” a full-on Prog-Rock freak-out — which, in addition to three hyphenated words in a row, means lotsa just-behind-the-beat drum fills and some spacey 70s keyb modules. Broadrick of Jesu and Godflesh. The remix companion shuffles the track order a bit, but the musical range of ...

Tracey Thorn: Opposites EP (Review)

Tracey Thorn

Opposites

Released by Merge Records

Even before the beats on 1996's Walking Wounded made Everything But the Girl electro-pop royalty overnight, I was often a wee distracted by some forced lyricism. The insistence on the standard verse/chorus form with the A/B scheme sometimes made lofty sentiments feel overwrought. The remix resolves this issue.
