It’s a song, as the title suggests, about wanting to make it in the world, and offers insight to the reflective, quiet moments of a young star’s life. Long ago, Diplo was just like the millions of DJs who now follow him, eager to show off his beats and let the world know who he was. In this video, he runs around like a little kid showing off his Casio, street team posters, and promoting his LP “Florida”. It’s a nice reminder that everybody starts somewhere, and where you go from there is up to you. There is also footage of Diplo DJing one of the funniest school dances I have ever seen.

Tanner Ross grew up as much a fan of horror movies as he was of electronic music. It was this combination of interests that helped spawn the haunted techno sound that has had the electronic music scene buzzing for the past year. In Mar, Tanner and partner James Watts debuted Voodeux’s live set to an intimate crowd in Detroit. The response was overwhelmingly positive. Now with the recent release of their first LP, The Paranormal, the accolades only continue to roll in. Tanner talked with us a bit about the creative process and where Voodeux’s music fits into the big picture. He also took time to discuss some of his musical influences, not to mention list a few of his favorite all time horror movies.

Audiotistic, one of the West Coast’s largest multi-music festivals, returns to Southern California this coming spring with a lineup that is sure to be a reminder of why it is one of the most groundbreaking events. From its humble beginnings in the Los Angeles underground, it has grown to be one of the largest, most talent packed, and multi-genre music festivals on the continent. Past shows were produced with the ideology to assemble a lineup featuring some of the most groundbreaking DJs and performance acts, thus uniting tens of thousands of avid music listeners. This year’s event will utilize the same formula to recapture the very magic that made Audiotistic. The return of Audiotistic is sure to create a new chapter in the history of this groundbreaking future sound festival.
