Red Bull Music Academy Session in Portland!

I am excited to announce that on Thursday, February 9, Red Bull Music Academy will be making a stop in Portland.

We are inviting the musically inclined to join us for a Red Bull Music Academy Session where they’ll learn more about what the Academy actually is, how to apply, and they’ll experience a lecture/discussion with Morgan Geist (Metro Area) and Salvatore Principato (Liquid Liquid), which will be moderated by Shawn Reynaldo (XLR8R) and will end with an audience provoked Q&A session.

Applications Open for Red Bull Music Academy 2012

RBMA 2012 Taking Place in New York City, Apply Until April 2nd 

Red Bull Music Academy, one of the most enviable opportunities currently available to developing musicians, has once again opened applications for the 2012 edition. The Academy, previously having taken place in locales like Madrid, London, Barcelona, Rome, Berlin, will be taking over New York City from September 30th until November 2nd. It provides the opportunity for 60 applicants from all aspects of the music industry – producers, vocalists, instrumentalists, DJs, from any genre – to absorb wisdom from an incredible variety of lecturers (previous lecturers include Erykah Badu, Gilles Peterson, ?uestlove, Clams Casino, Goldie, Theo Parrish… the list goes on). During the all-expenses-paid trip, attendees also get to work in studio space to their hearts’ content, and perform in iconic venues by night.

STREAM Erykah Badu DJ Set (Video)

We try play it cool and not to gawk to hard at corporate-sponsored music marketing, even when that marketing comes from Red Bull, possibly the only product in the last 15 years to have actually revolutionized nightlife culture (Red Bull and vodka anyone?). But damn if the energy drink giant’s most recent Music Academy didn’t deliver the goods like no other  brand on earth.
