Last year, Bastard Jazz Recordings commissioned Tall Black Guy to put together their first ever Tempo Dreams compilation. To follow up the critically-acclaimed success, the Brooklyn label reached out to modern funk masterminds Teeko and B. Bravo out on the west for some curation help.
If you aren’t familiar with Teeko or B. Bravo, they are two amazing visionaries doing big things based out of the Bay Area. Both artists come from a DJ background and bring a new perspective to keeping the funk alive. Teeko was once described as the “most insane and creative turntablist” by everyone’s favorite DJ, Mark Ronson. He was also recently involved in the creation of Vestax’ Controller One—the first turntable engineered to be a musical instrument. B. Bravo is a founding member of the Frite Nite crew, a Red Bull Music Academy alum, and is a one of the more recognizable figures in the modern funk movement. Together, they are Starship Connection and for today, they present to you, “Tempo Dreams Vol. 2.”
