With Earth Day (4/22) here, the question as to how the music industry can and has gone green is important. We’ve experienced concerts with environmental initiatives, album artwork printed with vegan dyes, soft packs instead of jeweled CD cases, artist contributions made to organizations, press releases with philanthropic undertones, but has the music industry as a whole gone green? For anyone who has downloaded music, whether or not you frequent RCRD LBL or get the mp3 of the day e-mail blast, the site’s founder, Elliot Aronow, is leading the pack to a place where fans and labels can both benefit from an authentic and ruthlessly curated selection of music. The precocious Aronow chatted with Anthem magazine about the start of the site, how it functions, its role on the web, and a great deal about how acts typically grow.
