KCRW DJ Jeremy Sole sits down with prolific producer Will Holland aka Quantic for a heartfelt and lively chat about his recording process, growing up in the UK, commonalities between Latin and Reggae music, and how his new record has married the two styles.  He released a number of brilliant albums and remixes over his 10-year career and his latest project Flowering Inferno: Dog With A Rope comes out July 13th on the Tru Thoughts label.

LA Premiere of Timeless DVD Series, This Saturday 5.01.2010

After much anticipation, this Saturday will be the LA premiere for the screening of Timeless, starring Mulatu, A Suite for Ma Dukes, and Verocai, with live re-edits by J. Rocc of all three DVD’s.  The screening will end in a Q & A session as stated in the flyer with all relevant info, above.  Attendees of the premiere will also be informed of the location for the afterparty with music provided by J. Rocc, Quantic, Coleman and a special guest.

DJ Nuts – Arthur Verocai Mix (MP3)

The Timeless Concert Series wasn’t just a series of stunning performances.  All the shows were framed by our favorite DJs.  Madlib, J. Rocc, House Shoes and Quantic all came with amazing sets.  Cut Chemist even raised the bar with a one turntable romp.
One the eve of the Verocai show, DJ Nuts was supposed to perform with Madlib.  He made the arduous journey from Brasil after completing a show with Marcelo D2.  He endured a punishing series of flights that took 20 hours to complete, and in the end, a plane delay caused him to miss his own set at the start of the show.
In a pinch, J. Rocc stepped up to the plate and performed a stellar set at the Luckman in his place, and Nuts went on to DJ a mind-blowing two hour set at the after-party.
So much of Mochilla’s dealings in Brasil would not have been possible without Rodrigo Teixera (known to the world as DJ Nuts).  The Verocai concert surely would never have happened without him.  His role in helping with the pre and post coordination was enormous. …MORE
