URB teams up with The Treasure Island Music Festival! (2 Pairs of Tickets Up for Grabs!) (Video)

Our SF Bay Area Team Captains @phil_enn and @nsnowhite managed to convince the awesome team behind the Treasure Island Music Festival to pony up TWO pairs of tickets!

The event which runs October 13-14, has fast matured into one a premier music festival for those seeking the a mixture of next wave artists and old school cool.

Jeff Mills, Public Enemy, Actress :: Movement 2012 Hits & Misses

Movement 2012 has come to a close, and for the astonishing 13th year in a row, Detroit’s Hart Plaza was packed with dance music fans from across the globe. Some came on a pilgrimage to honor and experience the original Detroit techno sound in the place of its birth, while many others simply descended from the suburbs to have a good time. The festival did its best to buck the trends, declining bookings from EDM superstars like Skrillex, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and Tiësto (who dominate every other major festival line-up) in favor of a carefully curated balance of dance music history and the next wave of innovators. URB’s 10 Must See Acts For Movement-Detroit 2012

Before mega events like Ultra Fest, EDC and Electric Zoo turned EDM into big business (again), a little upstart festival called Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF) denied all of the odds and brought the sounds of techno and house to the struggling metropolis for all to enjoy. Now in it’s 13th year, the gathering renamed Movement continues to buck the trends by offering a unique overview of global electronic music that you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Truly tragic news today with word that Soul Train host and creator has died of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. And while the world mourns this titan of funk, soul, R&B, disco and hip-hop, we decided the only true way to honor Cornelius is to go back and watch the show he created.
