Waxploitation and MTV premiere Causes 2

Waxploitation teams up with MTV to premiere Causes 2, the second album in their benefit series for Darfur. The album will debut on MTV’s The Leak on Apr 28th, running until May 5th, a week before the official release date. Causes 2 features exclusive songs from the likes of Gnarls Barkley, Diplo, The Decists, LCD Soundsystem and My Morning Jacket.

The album will be prominently featured on MTV, mtvU, MTV.com, and Think.MTV.com, with hopes to enlighten and educate the masses about the ongoing crisis in Darfur. What’s especially great about their work is that 100% of the profits from the album go directly to Human Rights Watch, Doctors Without Borders, and Oxfam America.

Clipse Manager Charged In $10M Drug Trafficing

Clipse have been known to sings a ditty or two about the profit and peril the snow business. Now it seems they might have been closer to the truth than anyone guessed. From All Hip-Hop:

Former Clipse manager and nightclub owner Anthony “Geezy” Gonzalez has been charged in U.S. District Court with running a $10 million a year drug ring.

The federal document elaborates that the defendants painted “themselves out as music producers, rappers, entrepreneurs, club owners, clothing designers and other legitimate occupations in order to conceal the true source of their income.”

Next Hot Chip Album Takes Cues From Crystal Waters

Hot Chip have reported in to BBC 6 about this new album, a professedly mellower affair “Taking cues from ’80s R&B duo Womack and Womack’s ‘Teardrops’ and ’90s pop a’ la Crystal Waters’ ‘Gypsy Woman,’“

Expect less “ready for the floor” and more “heading for the door” on Hot Chip’s new album. The Brit electro band’s follow-up to 2008’s dance-tastic album Made in the Dark will feature mellow “end of the night tunes.”

We won’t hear the new record until 2010, but member Alex Taylor has been including one track, “One Life Band,” presumably, um, at the end of the night.

The Juan MacLean Ushers In Spring, Previews New Record

Following up last year’s little smash of a single, Happy House, Mr. Juan MacLean returns Apr 14th, with a sophomore full-length he’s decided to call The Future Will Come.

In case MacLean’s sunny new disposition is unapparent, he’s adding “House” to the upcoming LP as well as previewing the release with a sweet new single: One Day. Blissed-out with little synth attacks and, in what’s becoming a signature style, off-step drum patterns make up the rythm bed of this minimal ditty. LCD Soundsystem co-hort Nancy Wang’s sweet chirp interacts with Juan’s own mockishly deep voice as they tag team in what sounds like a take-off of Human League’s “Don’t You want Me Baby?“.
