Little Boots releases Broken Record in anticipation of Nocturnes (Stream) (Video & MP3)

Hot on the (boot) heels of Motorway, the first single off Little Boots’ forthcoming LP, Nocturnes, comes Broken Record.  The latest effort launched to give listeners a taste of her next album, Broken Record is a resounding nod to the disco flavorings of Blondie while still retaining her signature electro-goth-pop vibe.

Broken Record is the flip side of coin with respect to Motorway.  Where Motorway was an aural dalliance between Boots’ electro trappings and a lush, vampy vocal arrangement, Broken Record finds the listener engaging with a more driven vocal line on top of a decidedly disco-goth score.  To say that the track itself is …

Little Boots Releases Motorway In Anticipation of New Album (Download Link Inside) (Video & MP3)

In preparation of her sophomore studio album, Little Boots, has announced that her forthcoming album, Nocturnes, will be released on her new On Repeat Records imprint.

Little Boots, made a splash in 2009, ingratiating herself to an audience readily receptive to a new class of dance-pop songstresses clearly influenced by the electro infused touch points of the 70′s and 80′s.  Stepping out of a class that defined itself as the next set of Dance femme fatales this side of Alison Goldfrapp, Little Boots’ next full length effort is shaping up to stand head to head with her musical classmates — Florence and the Machine, Ladyhawke, and …

Hortlax Cobra – Night Shift Review and Exclusive Stream.

I was first put on to Swedish based musician/producer Hortlax Cobra with his track Berlin.  I had meant to release this review weeks ago, but in the schedule to complete two different film projects, as well as a multitude of other things, the review was held back in queue.   Without further ado, here is my review of Hortlax Cobra – Night Shift (with super cool annotations and a streamy treat from the album.)>

Swedish based musician/producer/percussionist extraordinaire, John Eriksson, best known for his work with Peter Bjorn & John, has brought to the surface his alter ego, Hortlax Cobra.  Named after a locality in his mother country, Eriksson is next in a line of talented musicians to spring from the cloth of an …

Post SXSW: Band to Watch – Soft Swells (Video)

After their album launched earlier this February, Soft Swells, has maintained their space on my post review deck — similar to what happened with M83 and Foster The People the year prior.

The indie pop duo has done well, in the eclectic musical space that occupies my everyday office routine, as a result of the deceiving complexity of the soundscapes that they have created through their self-titled album.  After looking past the drum schemes, indie pop arrangements, and electronic influences that can help …

The Good Natured On Tour! (Video & MP3)

Britain’s pop-noir trio The Good Natured is playing select dates in January in anticipation of their upcoming release slated for Spring 2012.  The band recently premiered “Video Voyeur,” the first cut from their forthcoming debut album. “Video Voyeur”, produced by Swedish studio ace Patrik Berger (known for his work with Robyn), is an indicator of what is to come from these talented young Brits, who are reminiscent of The Human League. The Good Natured’s music is a stellar example of what is classic and timeless about ’80′s goth-synth-pop.
