Moog Sound Lab (Video)

Moog Sound Lab gives artists the opportunity to re-imagine one of their songs on all Moog instruments, creatively engineered and filmed at Moog Music’s factory in Asheville, North Carolina.  With Moog being the original arbiter of analog sound, it was a natural progression for them to create Moog Sound Lab. MSL gives another way of looking at music by newer artists; a look at what is next.

Moog Music established their legacy industrywide as being the pioneer of analog sound.  Beautifully combining Moog Music’s tight-knit company of innovators, with artists whose music is embellished by Moog’s product, Moog Sound Lab is positioned to break the next wave of groundbreaking new acts.

Com Truise – Cathode Girls (MP3)

[download]

Com Truise is New Jersey designer/musician Seth Haley. His songs tap classic sci-fi and proto-electro in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope, but they’re also remarkably psychedelic and ominous as if they were surrounded by dark matter. After his well-received Cyanide Sisters EP, the recently released Fairlight single, a grip of remixes for artists like Twin Shadow, Neon Indian, Daft Punk, and a few floating MP3s, Truise’s first LP, Galactic Melt, will finally enter our chambers in July. He will be debuting his live show on his first national tour this summer w/ Phantogram and Glitch Mob as well.

GALACTIC MELT TRACKLIST:
01. Terminal
02. VHS Sex
03. Cathode Girls
04. Air Cal
05. Flightwave
06. Hyperlips
07. Brokendate …

Phantogram – Eyelid Movies (Review)

Phantogram

Eyelid Movies

Released by Barsuk

Phantogram's debut Eyelid Movies comes across as a shrine to things that sound great on headphones, full of crisp and spry drums, and breathtakingly lush synthesized textures. It could end up pretty awful, right? It could have been music to shop to or something of the sort, but the record treats this richness as reason enough to exist. In Phantogram's soulful blend of pop, hip-hop and electronica, the duo closely recalls TV on the Radio, but by eschewing that band's zeitgeist-humping seriousness, they produce something more direct and, dare I say it, sincere.
