WeStoleTheShow spent some time with Hot 97 host and DJ Peter Rosenberg to ask him about how he got started in the industry, how the idea for “Generation Next” came about, what it was like to premier the Doom and Ghost Face track “Victory Laps” on the radio. 2010 Hip Hop Karaoke Championships (NYC) (Video)

I was lucky to be in the crowd to witness the 2010 Hip Hop Karaoke Championships.  It was a great competition with 12 contestants and celebrity judges Peter Rosenberg, Buckshot and the legendary Big Daddy Kane.  Everyone put up a good fight but at the end, Jessica from Queens, NY won the big prize.

For the longest time, I’ve been hearing about hip hop karaoke but after seeing what it was all about, I can see why people get into it.  Their next big event is in March when they do a tribute show for Biggie.  Make sure to follow them on twitter and go to that event.

Hip Hop Karaoke Championship 2010

The show this Friday night at New York’s Irving Plaza will be live. Maybe not live in the sense where real instruments will be played, but live as in on stage and in your face. Performers from all across the country (even Canada) will have their one chance, their one mic, a live DJ spinning all original instrumentals and an amazing crowd to have the opportunity to flatter their favorite rappers. It’s time for the 5th annual Hip Hop Karaoke Championships. The remaining 12 finalists have been chosen and the tracks, which range from Big Daddy Kane (who will be at the event as one of the judges) to Madvillian/MF Doom to Juvenile, are in place for the livest performer to win the grand prize of $1,000 and title of Hip Hop Karaoke Champion.

Along with Big Daddy Kane will be …
