Big Boi, The XX, LCD Soundsystem, La Roux and Dozens More At Norweigian Four Day Festival Blowout 

The Øya Festival is a festival put together by music lovers, for music lovers, and with a focus on presenting a cutting-edge bill with a big, Scandinavian heart. The festival is held in what is called the Medieval Park in Oslo, Norway – a beautiful spot surrounded by white, sandy beaches, the Oslo Fjord to the south, and the Oslo skyline to the west. Virgin Free Fest Announces 2010 Line-Up 

Everyone knows that music festivals are big business, with tens of millions made (ticket sales, beer vending, corporate sponsorship) and lost (artist fees, production costs) every summer. But what happens when big business decides to throw it’s own festival? You get Virgin Free Fest. Run as a multi-city paid festival in 2006 and 2007, the mobile phone company’s attempt at playing with big dogs like Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonarroo never seemed to hit it’s stride—perhaps due to it’s location in Maryland. Then last year, super rich bad-ass mofo Richard Branson decided to make the whole shebang free, and called upon Blink-182, Weezer and Jet to bring in the masses. There’s a lot of bands we are excited to see, but we came up with a select assortment spanning the spectrum of genres (and decades). While you will notice Thom Yorke and Muse are missing from our list, that doesn’t mean we don’t endorse them. Au contraire, we do and we know everyone wants the bragging rights to make Facebook updates like “Thom Yorke killed it,” so we just skipped to other folks.

Massive Attack Headlines Sasquatch! Festival, Lineup Announced

My Morning Jacket, Pavement, LCD Soundsystem, Kid Cudi and others slated to perform 

This Memorial Day the annual Sasquatch! Festival will takeover the Gorge in Quincy, Washington with Massive Attack, My Morning Jacket and Pavement headlining. As per usual, the lineup sticks with the indie-rock vibe. Expect dirtier-than-usual hipsters but there’s not much better than catching the scene’s fresh darlings (Local Natives) alongside the established (Broken Social Scene) and the fan favorites (Vampire Weekend, The xx) in that woodsy setting.
